Welcome to Equinox Institute. We are midwifing a movement network of people who share a vision for a complex system that can naturally shift the current systems we find ourselves stuck in. Strong relationships capable of transforming, at the micro and macro level, both individuals and global collectives. The future is unknown, the past fossilized. Only the present is capable of movement, so what is needed to shift the now? We can learn from indigenous wisdom, plan for what we see on the horizons, and attune to what we see is needed now, using both the sacred as a goal and the effective as the means.
The Equinox Institution mission is to curate insight into experiments that can be abandoned with glee or nurtured into practical and pragmatic applications to meet real world systems, bringing life and movement to those that are stuck while minimizing unintended and damaging second and third order consequences by developing an adaptive and responsive, iterative process.
“Thrive and Help Thrive for the seven generations” is a guiding principle. “Finding the second horizon” is also a guiding principle. We are constantly finding new principles for guidance.
Our three main areas of focus include Generative Social Networking, Collective Meaning / Sense Making, Collaborative Decision Making, and Collective Action. These three areas continuously feed into each other for a healthy and vibrant system, extending into existing systems to bring them into the process and allow groups to research, discuss, propose, create, and run experiments that can meet complex problems and improve life for all while either sidestepping as many negative and unintended impacts as possible or course-correcting quickly to repair ruptures.
